A Glimpse into Mindful Movement

Tai Chi is not just exercise; it is meditation in motion. Here is a sample of what you will learn.

Parting the Wild Horse's Mane

Parting the Wild Horse's Mane

A foundational movement in Tai Chi that teaches weight shifting, waist turning, and the coordination of hands and feet. It cultivates balance and the flow of internal energy (Qi).

1

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent. Your body is relaxed but upright. Breathe naturally from your abdomen.

2

Shift weight to your right leg. Turn your waist to the right as your hands form a ball, right hand on top. Step out with your left foot.

3

Shift weight to your left leg. Your left arm arcs up to chest height, palm facing inward. Your right hand gently presses down, ending by your right hip. The movement is led by your waist.

4

Shift back to your right leg, form the ball again (left hand on top), and repeat the parting motion on the right side. Maintain a continuous, flowing movement.

Like a gentle stream, we do not force our way. We yield, we flow, and in our softness, we find our greatest strength.
